Residents

EastView provides our Residents with the opportunity to thrive in and benefit from a community-rich lifestyle. Each defines his or her own distinctive daily endeavors amidst a backdrop of meaningful involvement, mind expanding and fun experiences, and the neighborly connections and security they glean living at EastView.

Our residents bring a lifetime of experience, interests, and talents to the community
…treasures to cultivate and to share

Carol & Reg

Creating Perennial Beauty

Carol & Reg have a knack for sharing joy with others.  Over the past twelve years they have lovingly created a beautiful garden sanctuary featuring their favorite shade and sun-loving perennials in our memory care neighborhood.  They also serve on the Board of Spirit in Nature, host international students from Middlebury College, and are active members of Veterans for Peace.  Reg also volunteers by assisting migrant workers, and Carol volunteers with a local charitable thrift shop.

Don

Thespians All

After retiring from a fulfilling career in theater, Don brought his love for the stage to life at EastView, by founding EastView’s popular Readers’ Theater. Frequent productions afford resident thespians a fun opportunity to try their hand at acting, with comedy, drama, and parts large and small…and no lines to memorize! Don has directed EastView residents in staged readings of plays, poetry, musical lyrics, sonnets, famous speeches, and the staging of personal histories.

Max

Capturing the Good Life one Click at a Time

A retired engineer, Max volunteers as a photographer for the Opera Company of Middlebury, Town Hall Theater, and the Rotary Club of Middlebury. Many of the photos on our website feature Max’s talents and he recently curated a solo show of his photography in a local gallery. Since moving to EastView in 2012, Max has enjoyed our beautiful setting for biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. He has served as Chair of EastView’s Residents’ Council and been a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels for many years.

Gail

Bem-vindo Välkommen Hos geldin Benvenuta Willkomen Witaj

A retired second-grade teacher, Gail chairs EastView’s Welcome Group, is a member of the Art Committee and Meditation Group, and she organizes Eastview’s monthly Second Sunday Afternoon Socials – a time to welcome new residents to EastView and intentionally gather residents for casual community conversation.  Gail is also a local hospice volunteer, sharing her comforting presence with those at the end of life.

Betsy

Adept Resident Ambassador

After Betsy and husband George retired from the foreign service, they moved to EastView in 2012 to live near their son. Betsy is a member of the Health & Wellness Committee, an organizer of our annual Remembrance Ceremony, and frequently plays piano for sing-alongs. She has served as Chair of the Residents’ Council and spent years skillfully articulating resident perspective as a member of EastView’s Board.

Joan

A Beautiful Trail of Special Touches

Joan generously curates EastView’s lovely library and is impeccable in keeping our collection of books and DVDs up-to-date, organized, and interesting. She has also coordinated a group of EastView volunteers who have created the finish line medals for Middlebury’s annual Maple Run marathon. Joan shares her creative talents by knitting cozy cage warmers for the animal shelter and is always willing to use her design and sewing skills to produce beautiful and functional creations for our community.

It’s a Dog’s Life…

We recognize that pets are valued members of our residents’ families. With the dog park just up the street and great places to walk together, our canine residents could not be happier. And our residents’ sun-filled homes are perfect for beloved felines to curl up for a comfy afternoon nap.
